Open dialogue reduces stigma, encourages early intervention, and builds resilience among young people.  This course unites community partners to improve youth mental wellness by discussing topics on trauma response and building resilience, the impact of the digital experience on youth mental health, suicide trends and addiction.

  • Examines basic soil and plant relationships. Soil fertility is important in considering the role that the soil plays with regard to the availability of nutrients to plants. Learners will study nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, as well as other macro and micro nutrients. Learners will practice appropriate sampling, analyzing and interpretation of soil sample results. Various soil management practices will be discussed, along with soil physical, chemical and biological properties. The soil profile will be examined.

Additionally specialty crops rely on irrigation for production, and learners will have the opportunity to explore irrigation on these crops in Wisconsin. Learners will examine various methods of irrigation and equipment during the course, and evaluate water use efficiency and design of different irrigation systems. Environmental impacts from agricultural water usage are explored.
