Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Direct Nursing Transfer

Students are eligible to transfer from another WTCS school when in good standing in their current nursing program and directly transfer into NTC’s nursing program.

Step 1: Submit Application

Apply to the Nursing Associate Degree program. When prompted, indicate that you are a “Nursing Transfer Student.”

Step 2: Submit Academic Standing Form

  • Completed Advanced Standing Form must be received directly from institution.
  • Students not eligible to return to Nursing program at prior institution are not eligible to enter NTC in Advanced Status. Students not eligible to return will follow traditional Nursing application process.

Step 3: Submit High School Transcript

Must include graduation date (month, day, year).

Step 4: Submit Post-Secondary Transcripts for Transfer Evaluation

  • In order to graduate with an Associate Degree at NTC, students are required to take 25% of the core program credits (10 credits in 10-543-XXX courses) and 25% of the overall program credits (18 credits) through graded coursework at NTC.
  • Required to submit syllabi for all Nursing courses and/or science courses taken at a non-Wisconsin Technical College.
  • Transfer evaluation may take 4–6 weeks.

Proof of the following courses with a grade of ‘C’ or better:

All documentation must be submitted prior to June 1 for Fall start and November 1 for Spring start.

All students must have the following courses:
  • Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • General Anatomy & Physiology
  • Core first semester Nursing courses
Additional course if transferring into 2nd semester:
  • Developmental Psychology
Additional courses if transferring into 3rd semester:
  • Advanced Anatomy & Physiology
  • Core second semester Nursing courses

Additional general studies courses are required to meet graduation requirements for the Nursing Associate Degree.

Step 5: Meet with Advisor

Meet with Advisor to develop an education plan and enroll in classes.

Step 6: Attend Mandatory Program Orientation

Attend the mandatory Nursing program orientation.

Non-Wisconsin Technical College System Nursing Transfer

Students are eligible to transfer from a non-Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) school when in good standing in their current nursing program and directly transfer into NTC’s Nursing program.

Step 1: Submit Application

Apply to the Nursing Associate Degree program. When prompted, choose “I’m a Nursing student at another college transferring to NTC.”

Step 2: Submit Academic Standing Form

  • Completed Advanced Standing Form must be received directly from institution.
  • Students not eligible to return to Nursing program at prior institution are not eligible to enter NTC in Advanced Status. Students not eligible to return will follow the traditional Nursing application process.

Step 5: Transcript Review

Your transcript(s) will be reviewed by the Nursing Admissions Committee. If approved, you will be notified by your advisor and proceed to the next steps which may include: 

  • Petition and HESI Test
  • Complete Return to Nursing course during the semester prior to entering NTC’s Nursing Program.

Progression Policy (For All Transfer Students)

Two fails/withdrawals results in removal from the Nursing Program for students entering the second semester.

One fail/withdrawal results in removal from the Nursing Program for students entering the third or fourth semester.
