(WAUSAU, Wis.) – Northcentral Technical College (NTC) is pleased to announce Metal Masters Quest, which gives high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to complete machining classes at Northcentral Technical College (NTC) at no cost, due to the generosity of the Central Wisconsin Metal Manufacturers Alliance (CWIMMA).

Students will build the foundational knowledge needed to work at area manufacturing businesses while having the opportunity to work at local businesses to apply their pre-apprentice skills.

Metal Master Quest classes will begin on Monday, June 17 and run through Wednesday, August 7. All classes will be held at NTC’s Wausau campus and will run Mondays and Tuesdays from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 7:00 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.

While participants complete the Metal Master Quest classes, they can be employed at an area manufacturing business. Students may also have the opportunity to continue their employment during the school year through the Youth Apprenticeship (YA) program. The YA program is a partnership between area K-12s and NTC that allows juniors and seniors to get paid to work while in high school. Through mentored, paid, on-the-job learning and classes that support their work, students develop a real-world connection between a rewarding career and their education.

“Metal Master Quest not only gives students the foundation needed to be successful in their future career, but also includes the hands-on skills developed through technical education at NTC,” said Greg Cisewski, NTC’s Dean of Advanced Manufacturing and Transportation. “We are proud to partner with area school districts, employers and CWIMMA to prepare students for rewarding careers at no cost.”
