(WAUSAU, Wis.) – Northcentral Technical College (NTC) donated more than $5,000 in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to seven local partner organizations this week in response to the growing COVID-19 pandemic. The College joined a growing group of colleges across the nation that have been donating unused PPE gear and health supplies normally reserved for lab classes to healthcare institutions in dire need of medical supplies.

“We need to do everything we can to assist our community in this time of need. Part of that responsibility is ensuring our frontline healthcare and public safety workers have the appropriate PPE to protect themselves and those in their care,” said Marlene Roberts, Dean, NTC School of Health Sciences. “We have donated all the PPE we can to help our clinical partners and we will continue to find ways to support our community.”

NTC’s School of Health Sciences gathered the equipment for donation from its agricultural science, EMS, dental hygiene, medical assistant, medical laboratory technician, nursing, radiography and surgical technology program supplies. Items donated included isolation gowns, masks and gloves.

“I couldn’t be more proud to be part of NTC’s caring campus community,” said Roberts. “Our School of Health staff came together to not only gather the supplies, but to also personally deliver them to our community partners.”

These donations are just one example of NTC’s ongoing commitment to the communities it serves. Last week, the College announced it would offer extended Wi-Fi capabilities in the parking lots of all NTC campus locations.

“As the community’s college, we have an obligation to serve and support our District residents,” said Dr. Lori Weyers, president of NTC. “We can think of no better way of demonstrating this than by donating to and supporting those most in need.”
