This course will cover topics related to the delivery of community and mental health care. Specific health needs of individuals, families, and groups will be addressed across the lifespan. Attention will be given to diverse and at-risk populations. Mental health concepts will concentrate on adaptive/maladaptive behaviors and specific mental health disorders. Community resources will be examined in relation to specific types of support offered to racial, ethnic, economically diverse individuals and groups.
Prepares learners to perform basic nursing skills under the supervision of a nurse for job entry as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or a home health aide (HHA) in health care agencies. Face-to-face and hybrid classroom, campus lab and clinical instruction are offered at various nursing homes and hospitals throughout the district. Students need to submit an application and complete background check.
This course focuses on the development of advanced clinical skills across the lifespan. Content includes advanced intravenous skills, blood product administration, chest tube systems, basic electrocardiogram interpretation and nasogastric/feeding tube insertion.
This course provides instruction for the apprentice in recognition, selection, and operation of mechanical hardware and hand tools. Apprentices are taught to use outside sources to select correct component or tool sizes, characteristics, and operating parameters. Apprentices will sharpen drills and single point cutting tools.
This course provides the opportunity for the apprentice to develop the knowledge, skills, process, and understanding of hardness testing, carbons and low alloy steel, tool steels, stainless steels, cast iron, aluminum and aluminum alloys, die cast alloys, copper and copper alloys, plastics, heat treating and nondestructive testing.
This course introduces the apprentice to the basic mold making process, mold construction and components, and materials. The course provides related instruction for the tool and die, stamping die and mold makers apprenticeship programs.
This course introduces the apprentice to the basics of stamping and diemaking. Topics include the basic terminology, blanking, piercing, bending and related basic operations. In addition learners will discover the basics of the theory and background knowledge related of stamping and die making. This course was designed for related instruction for tool and die, stamping die and mold makers.
This course will acquaint the apprentice with the interpretation of engineering prints and other technical and manufacturing documentation. The primary focus of the course will be on that part of manufacturing most closely related to machining and tools. Background information is provided relative to the process used to create and finish the product or piece part on the prints being studied. This course was formerly module 4 in related instruction.
This course is designed to acquaint the apprentice with the measurement systems and tools most frequently used in layout and machining processes. Learning outcomes relate to semi-precision through super-precision measuring tools and equipment combined with opportunities to investigate new technologies.
This course provides the stamping die maker apprentice with the opportunity to design from part specifications two elementary stamping dies. This course provides related instruction for the tool and die, stamping die and mold makers apprenticeship.
This course is designed to give the apprentice a basic understanding of the theory and process of sinker and wire EDM in toolmaking. This course uses the EDM Technical Manual distributed by POCO Graphite, Inc., which contains the most current information available in the industry. Competencies are designed for apprentices working in tool & die technologies using EDM.
Measure machined parts using basic theory and practice of mechanical inspection. Learners will experience quality control using dimensional metrology instruments.
Prepares learners for Machine Tool Lab classes. Safety, the use of basic hand tools, power tools, and an overview of Manual and CNC machines are covered to aid the prospective machinist to work safely and efficiently in a Machine Tool Lab.
Apply and learn operation of mills, lathes, drilling, grinding and general metal fabrication. This course is designed to give the learner the theory and hands-on training leading to the ability to work safely in a shop. Individual part fabricating and precision measurement are covered.
Develop basic skills creating 2D and 3D geometry part models using Computer-Aided Design (CAD). Learners will then learn how to create CNC tool paths using Computer-Aided Machining (CAM). Learners will also learn file management by saving, converting, and working with different file types.
Trains the leaner how to set-up and run CNC Milling Machines in a production setting along with programming and setting up multi-axis milling machining centers. Learners will obtain knowledge on proper set-up of multiple vises in a production situation. Learners will also learn how to set-up, program, and run multi axis milling machines.
Provides fundamentals of computer-controlled machine tools to include conversational language and basic G & M code programming. Emphasis on increasing productivity, setup procedures, reliability, repeatability and flexibility. Basic G & M codes work coordinates machine axis information associated with CNC machining will be taught.
Develop basic proficiency in reading and interpreting machine tool prints. Learners will learn the communication process between designer and machinist.
Apply and learn the operation of mills, lathes, drilling, grinding and general machining practices. This course is designed to give the learner the theory and hands-on training leading to the ability to work in a Machine Tool Lab. Individual part fabricating and precision measurement are covered.
Applies shop safety guidelines and becomes familiar with common machine shop equipment. Focuses on drill press, power saw, elementary lathe and mill operations and pedestal grinding machines. Learners will gain knowledge in layout tools and procedures and the proper use of hand tools in the shop.
Trains the leaner how to set-up and run CNC Turning Machines using Inside Diameter machining processes and multi-axis turning centers. Learners will learn how to set-up, program and run multi-axis turning centers.
Introduces the learner to basic CNC Milling setup and operation. Learners begin the course understanding the control panel of a CNC Milling Machine, common tooling used in a CNC Milling Machine and program set-up sheets.
