This accelerated, hybrid format is designed specifically for organizations who want to implement Lean Six Sigma. In the weekly, 2-hour sessions, participants will use the tools of Lean and Six Sigma to identify opportunities and improve processes for a specific workplace project. This certificate consists of four courses: Lean, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma and 5S Project (descriptions below). 

This training is being held at Church Mutual in Merrill, WI.

LEAN
10-623-137 | 3 credits
This fast-paced, team-based course will cover value chain, kanban, kaizen, setup reduction, value stream mapping, error proofing, total productive maintenance, theory of constraints, and batch production. Participants will apply these principles to a work project.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
10-623-138 | 5 credits
Concepts for the American Society for Quality Six Sigma Green Belt Certification are covered. Quality improvement tools such as cost of quality, PDCA, root cause analysis, statistical process control, ISO 9000, customer satisfaction and teamwork are applied to workplace improvement projects via hands-on experiences.

SIX SIGMA
10-623-139 | 5 credits
Work teams apply the appropriate improvement tools to a workplace project. The DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control)
methodology is utilized by each team to identify the root cause of a problem, correct the problem and demonstrate measurable improvement. Peer and instructor reviews will take place during all phases. Successful completion of this course prepares participants to take the American Society for Quality certified Six Sigma Green Belt Exam. (A practice certification exam will be administered at the end of the course.)

5S PROJECT
10-623-140 | 1 credit
Teams present final projects, including all five phases of Six Sigma. Participant’s supervisors and other management are encouraged to attend the final presentations and graduation celebration.
