Professional Skills for Success Series

This program is designed for those who are either new to an expanded role or seek to grow their skills as a productive worker or future supervisor. Throughout the series of courses, the program provides you the tools to perform better at your job, work more collaboratively with your team, and improve your effectiveness.

Medication Assistant Training

Tuesdays, February 18 - March 10, 2020; 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Northcentral Technical College (NTC) is pleased to be offering Medication Assistant training at our Wausau campus. The Medication Assistant is a Certified Nursing Assistant employed in a nursing home who administers specific medications under the supervision of the nursing staff. The training program provides an opportunity for students to develop the knowledge of standard practices related to administration of medications affecting multiple body systems and meets the state requirements for certification.

Understanding Your Culture Through Individual Personalities

Friday, February 21, 2020; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Decision making as a team or crew can be difficult when personality differences get involved. This workshop will help attendees discover their personality type and how it affects team decision making. Participants will learn how current research is looking at risk tolerance in Air Medical Crews, EMS professionals, Police, Fire and other first responders and how teams can utilize this information to promote a safety culture.

Custom Chair Design and Construction

Saturdays & Sundays, February 29 - March 14, 2020
Taught by a leading furniture expert, this custom dining room chair design and construction course will take you step-by-step through the process of planning, designing and building your own custom chair. All participants of this course will practice by building their own Stickley-style custom chair during class.

Tractor Safety

Saturdays, February 29 - April 4, 2020 (No class 3/28); 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
This course provides youth between the ages of 12 to 16 with the necessary requirements to be certified for compliance under Wisconsin Act 455 to operate tractors or self-propelled machinery for their own family on public roads.

Drone Training Courses

Thursday, March 5, 2020; 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
This course will begin to delve into the avenue for becoming a certified FAA sUAS pilot and will also include maintenance, pre- and post-flight checks and plans and more. Led by an experienced drone pilot and featuring guest lessons by area flight instructors, this course will prepare students and businesses to take the FAA’s Part 107 Remote Pilot Exam; upon completion of an exam, students would be certified to operate a drone for commercial and/or business purposes

OSHA 10 / 30 - General Industry

Occupational safety is important in every work environment. Designed for general industry workers, foremen, job supervisors and anyone involved in general industry, this course provides an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by the Occupational Safety Health Act (OSHA) 29 CFR 1910.

Moulder Set-Up and Knife Grinding Workshop

Monday, March 23 - Wednesday, March 25, 2020
This hands-on workshop will teach you the step-by-step procedures for accurately setting up production moulders and properly grinding profile knives. In the classroom, time will be spent focusing on basic moulder theory and principles that impact machining quality. You will then apply the knowledge gained in the classroom through hands-on practice on industrial machines in our state-of-the-art facility.
