About the Training Offered
We are proud to provide professional training and continuing education for America’s heroes — public safety professionals representing law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services (EMS).
All courses and programs offered through the School of Public Safety are certified to state and/or national standards.
As a regional, state and national leader in public safety training, we annually serve more than 2600 students and public safety professionals. Whether you are seeking training as a law enforcement, EMS or fire science professional, you’ll receive hands-on, tactical skills at the state-of-the-art Public Safety Center of Excellence, at one of NTC’s campus locations or on site through our customized training available for your department or organization.
Types of Training Available
We offer training for professionals in several areas of public safety, including training for law enforcement professionals, emergency medical services (EMS) professionals and fire services professionals:
Training opportunities include: Department of Justice (DOJ) Instructor Courses, In-Service Training, events and speakers.
Training opportunities include: EMS Certifications, Refresher Classes, Special Operations Tactical Rescue Technician (TEMS) Class and CPR.
Training opportunities include: Hazardous Materials (HazMat), Driver/Operator, Fire Certifications, Confined Space Rescue, Trench Rescue, Structural Collapse, Summer Fire Academy, Flashover Training and Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
Public Safety Center of Excellence
Our Public Safety Center of Excellence (PSCOE) is the region’s premier training facility for local, state and federal training.
The PSCOE encompasses nearly 37 acres and is centrally located in Central Wisconsin 15 minutes north of the NTC Wausau Campus on the edge of the City of Merrill, an area rich with a natural environment suitable for multiple all-seasons, all-hazards uses. The comprehensive training complex offers advanced training in a technical integrated and realistic environment, offering learners both classroom experience and real-world skills.Explore the Facility
