Students apply skills developed in Dental and General Anatomy, Dental Health Safety, Dental Chairside, Dental Materials, Dental Radiography and Dental Assistant Professional in a clinical setting with patients. Emphasizes integration of core abilities (soft skills) and basic occupational skills. They will be able to collect diagnostic and treatment data, manage infection and hazard control, perform clinical supportive treatments (four handed dentistry, maintain instruments, etc.), take diagnostic radiographs, perform dental laboratory procedures, provide patient oral health instruction, assist in managing medical emergencies, model professional behaviors, ethics and appearance.
Introduces learners to the laws, regulations and various certification levels of a Commercial Driver License (CDL). Introduces learners to the basic operation of a Class A Commercial Motor Vehicle.
Prepares learners to perform basic nursing skills under the supervision of a nurse for job entry as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or a home health aide (HHA) in health care agencies. Face-to-face and hybrid classroom, campus lab and clinical instruction are offered at various nursing homes and hospitals throughout the district. Students need to submit an application and complete background check.
Prepares learners in the operation of commercial motor vehicles. Extensive hands-on training will be implemented throughout the course on tractor-trailers, giving the learner the skills needed to test for a Class A Commercial Driverâs License. Limited lecture will be used to inform students of industry regulations, driver safety, inspections and communication.
The 17- hour Basic Motorcycle Rider course, including online ECourse and in person instruction, is designed for beginning riders and was developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). Instructors are certified by the MSF and Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). It is taught off-street, out of traffic, and motorcycles and helmets are provided. The course consists of 1 hour of classroom and 11 hours of on-cycle instruction. In addition there is a 5 hour ECourse that must be completed prior to class (fees for ECourse separate from course fee). The Basic Rider Course covers preparing to ride, turning, shifting and braking, street strategies, special situations, increasing riding skills, maintenance and insurance.
Builds on skills learned in Truck Driving 1 and 2, as students hone skills and practice to test for a Class A Commercial Driverâs License. This course will focus on hands-on training in advanced driving operations, backing skills, weight distribution techniques, and trip planning.
Introduces learners to the Gas Utility Industry, its terminology and definitions. Learners will also learn proper operation and safety procedures for hand and power tool use, construction equipment (backhoe, trencher, boring), and Excavation Safety. Learners will also begin to explore the properties and characteristics of natural gas and propane.
Prepares dental auxiliary students to respond proactively to dental emergencies, control infection, prevent disease, adhere to OSHA Standards and safely manage hazardous materials. Students also take patient vital signs and collect patient medical/dental histories. CPR certification is a prerequisite; students will be required to show proof of certification before beginning the course. This course is a WTCS aligned course required in both the Dental Hygienist and Dental Assistant programs. This course must be taken at NTC, no transfers, because the content of this course is specific for this program/site.

Trains the leaner how to set-up and run CNC Milling Machines in a production setting along with programming and setting up multi-axis milling machining centers. Learners will obtain knowledge on proper set-up of multiple vises in a production situation. Learners will also learn how to set-up, program, and run multi axis milling machines.
Focuses on the operation of trucks and equipment used in electric utility construction. Students will install utility poles, and URD equipment. Basic wood pole climbing techniques will be introduced. Learners will explore the overview of an electrical power system.
Expands on learners skills in diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic systems. Emphasizing their knowledge of proper diagnostic routines, learners perform and evaluate testing and repairs on electrical and electronic accessories, controls, and sensors related to customer convenience, communication and safety.
This advanced clinical course requires the student to integrate concepts from all previous courses in the management of groups of clients facing complex health alterations. Students will have the opportunity to further develop critical thinking skills using the nursing process in making clinical decisions. Applies theory in the development of a business plan: managing risk, budgeting, financial resource acquisition and business structure. Learners explore various techniques and alternatives used in operating an agriculture business.
Presents the clinical importance of infectious diseases with emphasis upon the appropriate collection, handling and identification of clinically relevant bacteria. Disease states, modes of transmission and methods of prevention and control, including antibiotic susceptibility testing, will also be discussed.
Builds on theory and operation principles learned in Diesel Engines 2. Examines in detail an engine's lubricating and cooling systems, as well as its internal rotating assembly. Through lab and lecture we perform diesel engine disassembly, inspection, parts evaluation and reassembly.
Food science principles applied to professional culinary food preparations. Units include professional kitchen operation, recipe terminology, culinary math and cooking techniques for various food categories. In addition, careers in the culinary industry are explored; including professionalism, ethics and etiquette.
This intermediate level clinical course develops the RN role when working with clients with complex health care needs. A focus of the course is developing skills needed for managing multiple clients across the lifespan and priorities. Using the nursing process, students will gain experience in adapting nursing practice to meet the needs of clients with diverse needs and backgrounds.
Develops the fundamental skills required for producing concepts and ideas represented in American Sign Language (ASL). Learners will apply the appropriate English synonyms for sign concepts based on contextual meaning. Learners will apply more than one English word equivalent to most sign vocabulary word. A variety language and vocabulary building exercises are designed to help learners enhance their English vocabulary. Learners will develop awareness of local and regional sign variations.
Focuses on the air brake system's component operation and brake maintenance for trucks and tractor/trailer combinations. In this course, learners will learn to perform overhaul procedures for cam style brake systems.
Prepares the Dental Hygienist student to play a proactive role in improving the dental health of community members of all ages. Students perform and interpret dental health research to determine community dental health needs. They also participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of a community dental health program.
Examines basic concepts of human anatomy and physiology as they relate to health sciences. Using a body systems approach, the course emphasizes the interrelationships between structure and function at the gross and microscopic levels of organization. Intended to prepare health care professionals who need to apply basic concepts of anatomy and physiology to informed decision-making and professional communication in the clinical setting.Student is highly recommended to have completed two semesters of high school chemistry or one semester of college chemistry with a "C" or better.
