Introduces learners to the laws, regulations and various certification levels of a Commercial Driver License (CDL). Introduces learners to the basic operation of a Class A Commercial Motor Vehicle.
Builds on skills learned in Truck Driving 1 and 2, as students hone skills and practice to test for a Class A Commercial Driver’s License. This course will focus on hands-on training in advanced driving operations, backing skills, weight distribution techniques, and trip planning.
Prepares learners in the operation of commercial motor vehicles. Extensive hands-on training will be implemented throughout the course on tractor-trailers, giving the learner the skills needed to test for a Class A Commercial Driver’s License. Limited lecture will be used to inform students of industry regulations, driver safety, inspections and communication.
Prepares learners to perform basic nursing skills under the supervision of a nurse for job entry as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or a home health aide (HHA) in health care agencies. Face-to-face and hybrid classroom, campus lab and clinical instruction are offered at various nursing homes and hospitals throughout the district. Students need to submit an application and complete background check.
Provides the learner with knowledge about the internal parts of a computer, the operating characteristics of Digital components, how to do Basic programming and flow-charting, and includes an introduction to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Introduces learners to the Gas Utility Industry, its terminology and definitions. Learners will also learn proper operation and safety procedures for hand and power tool use, construction equipment (backhoe, trencher, boring), and Excavation Safety. Learners will also begin to explore the properties and characteristics of natural gas and propane.
Prepares dental auxiliary students to respond proactively to dental emergencies, control infection, prevent disease, adhere to OSHA Standards and safely manage hazardous materials. Students also take patient vital signs and collect patient medical/dental histories. CPR certification is a prerequisite; students will be required to show proof of certification before beginning the course. This course is a WTCS aligned course required in both the Dental Hygienist and Dental Assistant programs. This course must be taken at NTC, no transfers, because the content of this course is specific for this program/site.

Provides the learner with the skills and knowledge for troubleshooting basic solid-state devices and circuits. The construction, identification, and operating characteristics of solid-state devices are investigated. The learner builds test circuits, gathers and analyzes data, and follows safety procedures. Methods for locating defective components are applied. The replacement of printed circuit board components is performed. Also examined is the effect of temperature on the operation of solid-state devices.
Focuses on the air brake system's component operation and brake maintenance for trucks and tractor/trailer combinations. In this course, learners will learn to perform overhaul procedures for cam style brake systems.
Focuses on the operation of trucks and equipment used in electric utility construction. Students will install utility poles, and URD equipment. Basic wood pole climbing techniques will be introduced. Learners will explore the overview of an electrical power system.
Builds on theory and operation principles learned in Diesel Engines 2. Examines in detail an engine's lubricating and cooling systems, as well as its internal rotating assembly. Through lab and lecture we perform diesel engine disassembly, inspection, parts evaluation and reassembly.
Develops abilities in industrial laser programming. Learners will set up software defaults, customize menus, create geometry files, assign cut parameters, optimize processing and finally create part nests. Laser use in local fabrication shops will be explored.
Prepares learners for Machine Tool Lab classes. Safety, the use of basic hand tools, power tools, and an overview of Manual and CNC machines are covered to aid the prospective machinist to work safely and efficiently in a Machine Tool Lab.

Develops the fundamental skills required for producing concepts and ideas represented in American Sign Language (ASL). Learners will apply the appropriate English synonyms for sign concepts based on contextual meaning. Learners will apply more than one English word equivalent to most sign vocabulary word. A variety language and vocabulary building exercises are designed to help learners enhance their English vocabulary. Learners will develop awareness of local and regional sign variations.
Food science principles applied to professional culinary food preparations. Units include professional kitchen operation, recipe terminology, culinary math and cooking techniques for various food categories. In addition, careers in the culinary industry are explored; including professionalism, ethics and etiquette.
Introduces radiography students to the principles and applications of x-ray technology. Students analyze how x-rays are produced and determine the corrective actions necessary for common equipment malfunctions.
Focuses on preparing the patient and operating room for surgery. Principles of sterile technique are emphasized as the student moves into the scrub role. Lab practice is included.

Explores object-oriented programming concepts and C# .NET syntax and features, with a focus on iterative development and testing. This course uses a variety of resources including Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams to present design principles and concepts. Learners will create console and GUI C# .NET applications which incorporate n-tier design principles and object-oriented design principles and patterns, emphasizing the use of composition over inheritance, interfaces and polymorphism. Additional topics include: class libraries, exception handling, event handlers and basic user interface design and validation.
Apply basic surgical theories, principles, and procedural techniques in the operating room. Students begin to function as team members under the guidance of the instructor and authorized clinical personnel.
