This course highlights the similarities in equipment and technique between the major arc welding processes. Students complete introductory level competencies in the GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW processes. Material preparation skills include shearing, sawing, grinding, and thermal cutting. This course is 40 hours for apprenticeship programs.
In this workshop you will be introduced to a new set of basic tools - the tools of a job site trainer. You will explore the skills that are necessary to be an effective trainer, discover how to deliver hands-on training, and examine the process for giving useful feedback.
Develops learner's ability to design and create construction drawings for a one-story residence including: foundation and floor plans, wall and stair sections and elevations (AutoCAD 2D software will be utilized). Design and analysis of joist, stair, and roof design is also covered.
Produce parts using intermediate applications of trade calculations and formulas. Emphasis will be placed on refined tolerances and using parts in assemblies.
Applies PC-based integrative computer graphics systems used to create and convert computer-generated designs into tool paths for computer-controlled machine tools. Learners will be able to load and simulate these programs.
Explores the fundamentals of Human Machine Interface (HMI) software and hardware. Students will learn about configuring communication with programmable controllers and project settings. Students will create and edit displays, browse tags and/or global objects and connections. Additional topics include trending, data logging, alarms, and animations.
Introduces Pneumatic fluid power systems. The characteristics and dangers of using air as a fluid power force are explored. Pneumatic system components are studied including: compressors, linear actuators, rotary actuators and pneumatic tubing. Hands-on activities using various pneumatic components are assembled in the lab.
Introduces solid state motor controls and proximity and photo sensors. Machine sequence control circuits are developed using programmable logic relays (PLRs) with computer based ladder logic programming and simulation software and then connected and tested in the lab.
Develop a strong understanding of the robot control system. Topics studied include creating and editing robot frames, branching and system IO and program control.
Introduces Integrated Manufacturing Systems (IMS). Learners will contrast Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC) and Personal Computer (PC) programming environments. Typically PLCs are suited for machine control, PACs are bettered suited for complex automation and the PC programming environment offers purpose-built Industrial PCs for manufacturing flexibility. Learners will demonstrate PC programming techniques within the LabView programming environment and practice advanced programming and troubleshooting techniques.

Introduces the learner to the knowledge and skills required of an entry level central service technician. Cleaning, decontamination, packaging, sterilization of instrumentation and equipment, as well as methods of process monitoring will be emphasized. Learners will also review medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and microbiology as it applies to Central Service. This course includes both lecture and lab experiences.
Examines precision measurement tools and explores material removal processes, testing techniques and finishing methods as well as rapid prototyping and 3D printing. The learner will consider how these processes influence design decisions and influence part and product design.

The AHA’s PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. The goal of PALS is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.
Explores the basics of printing and the printing industry. Learners will learn about the demand for printed products, the printing industry and all steps involved in the printing process. Actual printing projects will be produced by each learner.
Instructs learners in the estimation of printing jobs and in the overall business side of the printing industry. Areas covered include production organization, scheduling, sales, customer service, job planning, supervisory management, standard production times, budgeted hourly rates, paper calculations, billing and the use of estimating software.
Introduces medical assistant students to laboratory procedures commonly performed by medical assistants in a medical office setting. Students perform Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) waived routine laboratory procedures commonly performed in the ambulatory care setting. Students follow laboratory safety requirements and federal regulations while performing specimen collection and processing, microbiology and urinalysis testing.
Examine how personality, teamwork, and ethics contribute to both personal and professional success within the cosmetology industry. Through the implementation of safety and infection control practices, learners will execute a positive guest experience including, the greeting of guests and completion of services. Builds on print interpretation skills developed in Weld Print Reading 1. Learners study increasingly complicated prints and welding symbols. Learners will apply concepts in hands-on activities, practicing basic layout skills and safe operation of saws, shears and drills.
Examines the architecture, components, operations, and security for large, complex networks, including wide area network (WAN) technologies. Learners will configure, troubleshoot, and secure enterprise network devices and understand how application programming interfaces (API) and configuration management tools enable network automation. Learners will configure and troubleshoot OSPFv2, ACLs, NAT, and QoS on IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
Utilizes multiple operating systems, multiple hardware platforms and a variety of network devices and tools to build a functional network infrastructure. Explain design, construction and service of vehicle braking systems. Emphasis is placed on disc applications, the machining of brake rotors, hydraulic systems and components along with system maintenance.
Diagnose, service and repair of fuel systems including TBI, MPI and DI systems. Learners will also be trained in the use of: oscilloscopes, pressure tester, scan tools and various computer self-diagnostics tools.
Applies machining applications to: work planning, milling machine setups, lathe setups and basic surface grinder setups. This course will teach the learner to machine more complex parts, hold closer tolerances, add skills that can increase efficiency and produce assembled projects.

Develops the principles of electrical fabrication. Emphasis will be given to the practical application of interpreting engineering drawings, wiring machine components and troubleshooting electrical panels.
Focuses on the concept of programming and using vision guided robotic systems. Both remote hard mounted vision systems and robot mounted vision systems will be introduced. Learners will learn how to create vision programs and configure the robot to work with the camera system to allow storage and bin picking applications. Introduces industrial motors including the most common types of AC and DC motors. The potential dangers of Industrial motors are explored and the application and safety standards related to electric motors are reviewed and implemented. Labs include motor load and efficiency testing utilizing digital power, speed and torque measurement devices.

Prepares dental auxiliary students to respond proactively to dental emergencies, control infection, prevent disease, adhere to OSHA Standards and safely manage hazardous materials. Students also take patient vital signs and collect patient medical/dental histories. CPR certification is a prerequisite; students will be required to show proof of certification before beginning the course. This course is a WTCS aligned course required in both the Dental Hygienist and Dental Assistant programs. This course must be taken at NTC, no transfers, because the content of this course is specific for this program/site.

This clinical course builds on and expands the technical/clinical skills student dental hygienists developed in Dental Hygiene Process II. In consultation with the instructor, students apply independent problem-solving skills in the course of providing comprehensive care for calculus case type I, II and III patients and case type 0, I, II and III patients. Dental Hygiene Process III introduces root detoxification using hand and ultra-sonic instruments, laser bacterial reduction, selection of dental implant prophylaxis treatment options and administration of chemotherapeutic agents. Students also adapt care plans in order to accommodate patients with special needs.
Prepares radiography students to perform routine radiographic procedures of the skull, facial bones, sinus, spine, bony thorax, gastrointestinal, urological, and special studies . Course includes considerations for contrast, mobile, surgical and trauma procedures. Students apply knowledge of human anatomy to position the patient correctly to achieve and evaluate optimal diagnostic quality images which includes identifying radiographically significant anatomy.

Examines normal human anatomy and physiology using a body systems approach with emphasis on the interrelationships between form and function at the gross and microscopic levels of organization. Cellular metabolism and the individual components of body systems will be explored. Introduces the preparation of clear, cream, puree and specialty soups. Learners will prepare basic stocks and soups. Additionally learners will evaluate convenience soups and stocks for quality and cost.
This course will cover topics related to the delivery of community and mental health care. Specific health needs of individuals, families, and groups will be addressed across the lifespan. Attention will be given to diverse and at-risk populations. Mental health concepts will concentrate on adaptive/maladaptive behaviors and specific mental health disorders. Community resources will be examined in relation to specific types of support offered to racial, ethnic, economically diverse individuals and groups.
This intermediate level clinical course develops the RN role when working with clients with complex health care needs. A focus of the course is developing skills needed for managing multiple clients across the lifespan and priorities. Using the nursing process, students will gain experience in adapting nursing practice to meet the needs of clients with diverse needs and backgrounds.
