Optimizes machining concepts to produce parts non-traditional CNC equipment. This course will teach the learner to machine more complex parts, hold closer tolerances, add skills which can increase efficiency while using alternative machining methods.
This course will acquaint the apprentice with the basic types of cutoff machines used in industry, cutoff machine applications, cutoff machine tooling, and cutoff machine safety.
This course focuses on the terminology, construction and operations of drilling machines in the metal-working industry. Be aware that in-depth information regarding cutting tools, hardware and hand tools will be addressed in their own courses. Efforts should be made to reference information found in other courses in order to assist the apprentice in the application and assimilation of information.
Introduces learners to the fundamentals of CNC milling setup and operation. The course focuses on basic familiarity with the CNC milling machine control panel, common tooling, and simple program setup sheets. Learners practice running existing programs and make very simple edits under guidance to produce parts that meet basic print specifications.
Identify recyclable material, in both the solid and liquid form, and understand why these materials need to be recycled and how to properly recycle these materials. Demonstrate the understanding of the information found on SDS documentation and the concept behind the 5's system. Learner will also demonstrate the ability to plan out a job in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Develop knowledge in science of metals and alloys. The crystalline structure and microstructure of metals and their effect on the properties of metals are studied. Prime consideration is given to heat treatment operations dealing with ferrous metals. Explore non-destructive testing of different metals along with destructive testing methods.
This course related instruction on the basic principles of vertical and horizontal milling machines for the machine tool apprentice. Instruction includes safety, basic parts and functions of the machines, work holding devices, tooling requirements, and feeds and speeds.
Prepares learners to perform basic nursing skills under the supervision of a nurse for job entry as a nursing assistant or a home health aide (HHA) in health care agencies. Face-to-face and hybrid classroom, campus lab and clinical instruction are offered at various nursing homes and hospitals throughout the district. Students need to submit an application and complete background check.
Optimize proficiency development in the application of tooling and processes on the engine lathe, vertical milling machine and surface grinder. Manufacture parts to print specifications while developing problem solving skills. Basic Tool & Die concepts will be utilized during this course.
