The Legal Studies/Paralegal Associate Degree is a 61 Credit program. The following is a typical semester breakdown of the courses within the program.

Transfer of legal specialty coursework credit is accepted, subject to review by the Program Coordinator for course compatibility, from another accredited paralegal program. Transfer is limited to a maximum of 12 credit hours of Legal Specialty Courses. All students need to take 9 credit hours of Legal Specialty Courses through synchronous education at NTC. These courses are available remotely and on campus.

Paralegal Intro/Legal Ethics (10110101)

Explains the basics of the law, the paralegal profession, career opportunities, and ethical concerns as they relate to paralegals. Learners examine the individual legal topics and practice areas they will study throughout the program, preparing them for success in the Paralegal Program.

Legal Computer Applications (10110175)

Examines the software and technology used in the law office, including: billing software, case management software, litigation support software and an introduction to electronic discovery. Learners review demonstrations and simulations of legal software.

Examines the relevant rules and regulations of the legal profession. Identifies the forms of attorney discipline, and, utilizing case studies, explain and differentiate between attorney discipline remedies. Learners develop a portfolio (including resume, cover letter, and writing samples) to use in the employment market.
