Band Saw Filer Level 1: Introduction To The Trade (10465168)

1.00 credit

Introduces the learner to the band saw filing profession. As the introductory course for the Band Saw Filing program, learners will explore safe work practices used in a sawmill environment, apply industry standard calculations, effectively use measuring tools and equipment related to the trade, examine tool geometry and cutting systems, and investigate factors affecting sawing performance.

Band Saw Filer Level 4: Maintaining Saws, Saw Filing Equipment & Band Mills (10465171)

1.00 credit

Examines the key maintenance responsibilities of the saw filer. Learners will be introduced to welding methods used to repair saws and will spend time applying these techniques in the saw filing room. In addition, students will examine band mill related maintenance assessing saw guides and band mill alignment.

Band Saw Filer Level 3: Fitting Band Saws (10465170)

4.00 credits

Applies the proper tools and techniques to fit band saws to maximize saw performance. In this hands-on intensive class, students will learn proven procedures to effectively swage, shape, and grind band saws to increase sawing accuracy.

Band Saw Filer Level 2: Benching Band Saws (10465169)

2.00 credits

Investigates the benching techniques used by professionals to increase saw longevity. Utilizing band saw benches, students will level and tension saws through shop-based exercises.
