The Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienists Certificate prepares experienced Dental Hygienists to administer local anesthesia in the office setting. This certificate covers the neurophysiology and pharmacology of local anesthetic agents and how to effectively deliver them within the oral cavity.
Completion of this certificate qualifies the student to apply for state certification to administer local anesthesia through the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, Dentistry Examining Board. This 21-hour program includes 10 hours of classroom lecture and 11 hours of clinical experience.
