English Language Learning

The English Language Learning (ELL) program at NTC is designed for adults over 18.5 years of age whose native language is not English. There are two types of classes available to help students meet their language goals.

English Language Learning (ELL)

These classes are available at all levels from Beginning to Advanced with class times in the morning and the evening. ELL instructors and staff will help students set goals and choose classes to meet their needs. This option is tuition-free (students are required to purchase textbooks).

Math, Reading & Writing Skills

Learning plans are catered specifically for each individual student depending on their needs and future career goals. Instructors will assist students with developing a self-paced plan to increase their math, reading and writing skills in a lab setting.

Employment Readiness

NTC can help you improve upon your level of professionalism and soft skills, which are traits employers value. Assistance is available in the following areas: job search, cover letter, resume, and interviewing.

Computer Literacy

Technology plays a large role in today’s world, and many businesses require employees to have at least basic computer literacy. Northcentral Technical College (NTC) provides class options that can increase your skills in this area.

Computer Basics 1

Students will become familiar with common computer terminology, the basics of Windows, the basics of Word, and file/folder organization. Students will learn how to log on and off, manipulate the mouse, work with gadgets, switch between programs, use the Ribbon in Word, use common tool bars, insert and delete text in a document, spell check, cut, copy, and paste.

Computer Basics 2

Students will become familiar with the Internet and computer safety while using the internet. This course will teach students how to use the address bar, links, navigation buttons, e-mail, and how to protect themselves against viruses, malware and spyware.

Keyboarding

By the end of this course, students will be able to use the computer to produce a typed document using their keyboarding skills. Students will learn to use proper alignment of fingers and body during typing, touch typing and basic Word functions.
