In this hands-on class, learners will learn the step-by-step procedures for accurately setting up production moulders and properly grinding profile knives. In the classroom, time will be spent focusing on basic moulder theory and principles that impact machining quality. Learners will then apply the knowledge gained in the classroom through hands-on practice on industrial machines in our state-of-the-art facility.
Attendees of this class will learn how to operate a chainsaw safely and use proper felling techniques. Class begins reviewing OSHA rules and regulations and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Learners will then cover chainsaw operation, mechanics, and maintenance. In the afternoon, the class will move out into the field to learn about the mechanics of a tree and a cutting demonstration.
Examines proven strategies designed to help learners achieve greater personal, academic, and professional success. Learners will apply personal responsibility thinking and behaviors; self- management, awareness, and motivation strategies; as well as interdependence skills to develop a proactive life plan.
Introduces learners to the format and types of questions given in the math, chemistry, and anatomy & physiology portions of the HESI test. Sample questions and possible study materials will be discussed. Upon completion of the course, learners will have a greater understanding of the test. Additionally, course completion will assist in determining if learners feel ready to test, or would like to pursue additional study opportunities prior to testing.

Our Master Craftsman Tom Gallenberg will lead you through the step-by-step process of building a beautiful side table that will exhibit the design elements found in many Greene & Greene style furniture: cloud lifts, leg indents, and corner brackets.
Kiln Drying includes: presentation on effective Kiln drying, 100 board run test, 40 board runs along with kiln drying techniques based on climate conditions.
Provides an overview of the industrial environment, current industry trends and identification of career paths available in wood manufacturing. Focuses on safety and health practices within the woodworking industry. Topics covered include OSHA requirements and workplace safety. Upon completion of this course, students will earn an OSHA Forklift Operator Certificate.
Expands of the skills previously introduced through the use of more advanced standard grade classifications and methods. Learners build additional experience in the grading of hardwood lumber and logs and enhance their merchandising knowledge and understanding with emphasis on hands-on exercises and techniques.
Explores the general overview of plant layout, machine centers, and different product flow in a lumber manufacturing setting. Learners focus on the mix of species, and how these can be utilized in various product lines, and examine the processing of lumber through sawing, edging, and trimming manufacturing operations.
Introduces learner to basic G & M code programming, progressing into PC-based integrative computer graphic systems used to create and convert computer-generated designs into tool paths for computer numerically controlled (CNC) wood routers. After loading and simulating programs the learner will learn how to operate a production sized CNC wood router. Stock preparation, safe set-up, tool selection, quality control and maintenance are covered in detail.
As an introduction course, students will learn wood anatomy and the physical nature of wood and how these characteristics are used in species selection for industrial raw materials. Species identification will be covered in the lab portion of this course.
