This course highlights the similarities in equipment and technique between the major arc welding processes. This comprehensive training provides an introduction to tactical skills. Students will be introduced to basic SWAT topics, tactics and techniques including a historical overview of SWAT, team organization and structure, resolution of barricaded suspect situations, covert individual and team movement, searches and room clearing, chemical agents, less-lethal options, warrant service and multiple field training exercises. This is a hands-on course in which students practice tactics and techniques in the field as well as in the classroom.

All LE academy candidates and law enforcement recruits must complete and pass the physical readiness test. The test must by completed at a DOJ certified law enforcement academy. This test will meet that standard.
Occupational safety is important in every work environment. Designed for general industry workers, foremen, job supervisors and anyone involved in general industry, the Outreach Training Program courses are an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by the Occupational Safety Health Act (OSHA) 29 CFR 1910. When required by OSHA standards, workers must receive additional training on the specific hazards of their job. This training is recommended by OSHA. Attendees will receive an NTC certificate of completion, plus the official blue general industry wallet card issued by OSHA, to certify they successfully completed the course.

Emphasizes the development of safe driving techniques, inspections, and advanced backing skills. Combined with Class B CDL 2, the content of this course meets or exceeds the minimum federal training requirements for Entry Level Driver Training. Extensive hands-on training will be implemented throughout the course in operating Class B straight trucks, giving the learner the skills needed to test for a Class B Commercial Driver’s License.

Introduces Respiratory Therapy practice in the hospital setting. Includes the development of skills such as basic therapeutics, patient assessment, medical record review, safety practices, patient interaction, and communication. Emphasis is placed on promotion of evidence-based practice using established clinical practice guidelines and published research for its relevance to patient care.
Students apply skills developed in Dental and General Anatomy, Dental Health Safety, Dental Chairside, Dental Materials, Dental Radiography and Dental Assistant Professional in a clinical setting with patients. Emphasizes integration of core abilities (soft skills) and basic occupational skills. They will be able to collect diagnostic and treatment data, manage infection and hazard control, perform clinical supportive treatments (four handed dentistry, maintain instruments, etc.), take diagnostic radiographs, perform dental laboratory procedures, provide patient oral health instruction, assist in managing medical emergencies, model professional behaviors, ethics and appearance.
Prepares learners to perform basic nursing skills under the supervision of a nurse for job entry as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or a home health aide (HHA) in health care agencies. Face-to-face and hybrid classroom, campus lab and clinical instruction are offered at various nursing homes and hospitals throughout the district. The AHA’s PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. The goal of PALS is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.
Emphasizes basic fire behavior, techniques used to control structural and related fire emergencies and life safety practices. Learners perform all practical evolutions necessary to control and extinguish fires and otherwise meet all requirements for Firefighter 1 certification with the state of Wisconsin.
Explore emergency and critical care, surgical nursing and anesthesia on common domestic species. Learners will gain experience with patient preparation for common surgical procedures, presurgical diagnostics, anesthetic protocols, aseptic technique, and surgical assisting. This course is only offered in fall and summer semesters.
Expands learner’s ability to manage a dairy herd with concentration on breed identification, reproduction, genetics including linear appraisal and selection indexes, calving management and record keeping systems.
Examines weed identification concepts at various plant growth stages. Learners will develop the skills necessary to characterize and identify weeds in agronomic and garden settings. Hands-on activities include creating a weed portfolio using a plant press and identifying weed species in crop fields and gardens.
Researches the latest science-based recommendations for battling garden and field pest problems. Throughout this course, students will learn to identify pests and plant diseases. Learners will determine what corrective action should be taken, if any. Integrated pest management concepts are covered in this course.
This course will cover topics related to the delivery of community and mental health care. Specific health needs of individuals, families, and groups will be addressed across the lifespan. Attention will be given to diverse and at-risk populations. Mental health concepts will concentrate on adaptive/maladaptive behaviors and specific mental health disorders. Community resources will be examined in relation to specific types of support offered to racial, ethnic, economically diverse individuals and groups.
This third level clinical course prepares radiography students to perform radiologic procedures on patients with varying degrees of direct and indirect supervision. Students apply radiation protection and standard precautions in the production of radiographic images in a health care setting while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. An emphasis of the course is the demonstration of communication and critical thinking skills appropriate to the clinical setting.

This 96-hour course prepares the participant to be able to perform fire fighting functions at the nationally recognized minimum levels under direct supervision. The targeted audience is individuals who desire to become Wisconsin Certified Fire Fighter I based on the requirements set by SPS 330.08, Employment standards, Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. This course is designed to provide the Fire Fighter I candidate with the information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) defined in NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Current Edition, Chapters 5.2 through 5.5. The participant must also complete the Hazardous Materials Operation level course in order to meet the remainder of the NFPA Fire Fighter I JPR requirements.
During the week, students will be tasked with a challenge to create a brand and create materials to match their branding. Students will start by designing items and then printing them in our state-of-the-art lab. Through this camp, students will learn about mass producing items with graphics such as stickers, shirts, boxes, packaging, and other promotional items.
Students are invited to explore NTC's welding lab in this summer camp experience. NTC welding faculty will lead students through the skills and equipment needed for welding design. Participants will learn welding basics and create a project to take home.
Prepares the learner for the Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Exam using classroom and online resources to develop knowledge of non-driving aspects of operating Class B vehicles. Some of this content includes regulations, hours-of-service rules, driver wellness/fatigue, and medical requirements. This course prepares Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) certified law enforcement officers to effectively administer and teach the handgun and rifle training program. This course emphasizes teaching and learning techniques that promote active learning, supports learners with a variety of learning preferences and needs, and generates continuous improvements. This is a comprehensive instructor training on the justification for the use of deadly force, and the function, disassembly, troubleshooting, cleaning, maintenance, loading, unloading, reloading, malfunction clears, transition procedures in handgun and the modern police rifle.
Nitro-X Automotive Summer Camp is designed to introduce middle school students to transportation careers. Students will work with NTC faculty, staff, and industry professionals to prepare, paint, and customize a remote-control car using the same materials and techniques used in the collision repair industry. Throughout the week, students will learn about various transportation careers through hands-on activities, field trips to dealerships and auto shops, and will prepare the car for the final race day.
This course provides youth between ages 12 to 16 with the necessary requirements to be certified for compliance under Wisconsin Act 455 to operate tractors or self-propelled machinery for their own family on public roads. This course also meets the requirements for the U.S. Department of Labor Agriculture Hazards Occupation Order for youth 14-15 years of age employed on a farm other than their family farm.
During this camp our NTC welding faculty member will lead the students through hands-on activities in the areas of welding, engineering and machine tool. The students will tour a local manufacturer, hear from role models working in the industry, and create a project they can be proud of. The camp wraps up with a celebration where students can showcase what they’ve learned and created.
During this 2-hour camp, students will get a front row seat to what it is like to work in veterinary office, learn some of the skills necessary to provide medical and nursing care to a variety of animal species, and tour NTC’s Ag Center of Excellence.
Medical professionals who respond to cardiovascular emergencies in and out of the hospital enhance their treatment knowledge and skills through the AHA’s ACLS training courses.
This Basic Motorcycle Rider course consists of classroom and range instruction designed for beginning riders and was developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). The Basic Rider Course covers preparing to ride, turning, shifting and braking, street strategies, special situations, increasing riding skills, maintenance and insurance. Instructors are certified by the MSF and Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). It is taught off-street, out of traffic, and motorcycles and helmets are provided. In addition there is a 5 hour ECourse that must be completed within 30 days prior to class(fees for ECourse are included in the overall class price).
This American Red Cross Babysitting Certification course will prepare youth to be safe, effective, and responsible babysitters. The training is designed to provide universal skills in areas that every babysitter should know, including basic care for infants and children, basic First Aid, child behavior and appropriate activities, emergency protocols, and more.
This camp is open to students who have completed Make it Real: Imagine, Design, Manufacture or Girls Make It Real this year or in the past. Students will work together to design and build a project that will be placed in our community.

During this 2-day camp NTC welding faculty will lead young women through hands-on activities in welding and engineering as they design and build a take-home project. This camp is designed for young women who have welded before.

The targeted audience is individuals who have completed the training required to meet the Fire Fighter I JPRs in NFPA 1001, and desire to increase their knowledge and skills base to the next level. This course is designed to provide the Fire Fighter II candidate with the information needed to meet the operational level competencies for the hazardous material first responder as referenced in the job performance requirements (JPRs) in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Chapter 4, 4-1.1. It is based on the National Fire Academy (NFA) Initial Response to Hazardous Materials Incidents: Basic Concepts and Initial Response to Hazardous Materials Incidents: Concepts Implementation curriculums.
Introduces learners to the Gas Utility Industry, its terminology and definitions. Learners will also learn proper operation and safety procedures for hand and power tool use, construction equipment (backhoe, trencher, boring), and Excavation Safety. Learners will also begin to explore the properties and characteristics of natural gas and propane.
This course provides instruction for the apprentice in recognition, selection, and operation of mechanical hardware and hand tools. Apprentices are taught to use outside sources to select correct component or tool sizes, characteristics, and operating parameters. Apprentices will sharpen drills and single point cutting tools.
This course provides the opportunity for the apprentice to develop the knowledge, skills, process, and understanding of hardness testing, carbons and low alloy steel, tool steels, stainless steels, cast iron, aluminum and aluminum alloys, die cast alloys, copper and copper alloys, plastics, heat treating and nondestructive testing.
The Hydraulics and Pneumatics course is customized for Industrial Electricians and relates the basics of hydraulic/pneumatic theory and hydraulic/pneumatic components. Safety and the interrelationship between hydraulic/pneumatic power with electrical control are emphasized.
Prepares dental auxiliary students to respond proactively to dental emergencies, control infection, prevent disease, adhere to OSHA Standards and safely manage hazardous materials. Students also take patient vital signs and collect patient medical/dental histories. CPR certification is a prerequisite; students will be required to show proof of certification before beginning the course. This course is a WTCS aligned course required in both the Dental Hygienist and Dental Assistant programs. This course is designed to provide the apprentice with the concepts and techniques used in computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) as part of their related instruction.
This course will acquaint the apprentice with the skills to interpret the geometric dimensions and tolerances found on engineering drawings and in other industrial documents. Instruction concentrates on interpreting symbols, identifying tolerance zones and determining ways to check parts for conformity to the specified geometric controls. Kiln Drying includes: presentation on effective Kiln drying, 100 board run test, 40 board runs along with kiln drying techniques based on climate conditions.
Operate CNC turning Machines to cut outside and inside diameters using modern machining processes. Learners will also learn how to set-up, program, and run live tooling multi-axis turning centers utilizing axial and radial tooling.
Operate CNC Milling Machines in a production setting along with programming and setting up multi-axis milling machining centers.
