This final clinical course requires students to integrate and apply all knowledge learned in previous courses to the production of high quality images in the clinical setting with minimal direct and primarily indirect supervision . Students apply radiation protection and standard precautions in the production of images in a health care setting while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. Students are encouraged to demonstrate independent judgment in the performance of clinical competencies.
Integrate the theory, practice and reflection of coursework. Provide services to guests in Studio Max Salon. Learners will perform services under the supervision of an instructor. Evaluate time management on service time to reflect industry readiness and manage salon flow efficiently. Learners will complete this course by working and observing on and off campus salon environments. Safety and Infection control will be practiced throughout this course.
Introduces Respiratory Therapy practice in the hospital setting. Includes the development of skills such as basic therapeutics, patient assessment, medical record review, safety practices, patient interaction, and communication. Emphasis is placed on promotion of evidence-based practice using established clinical practice guidelines and published research for its relevance to patient care.
Perform the every day medical calculations used in veterinary medicine with accuracy. Learners will perform metric conversions, calculate drug dosages and fluid rates and practice filling prescriptions.
Examines the principles of farm crop production, including classification, growth and management of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, barley, as well as other Midwest crops. Learners will explore soil preparation, plant physiology, planting dates, planting depths and seeding rates for various types of crops. Furthermore, learners will engage in the study of plant structure identification. Different types of equipment used in planting and harvesting will be explored and discussed during the course.
Develop an understanding of terms and abbreviations used in the practice of veterinary medicine. Through reading, writing, and speech, learners will master combining forms as they relate to bodily structures, and word parts for the understanding and definition of medical procedures, treatments, and conditions.
Explores grid sampling sizes, plant nutrient analysis, CEC, base saturation and nutrient management planning. Learners will apply classroom theory through hands-on activities such as grid sampling, plant identification and pest identification. Furthermore, learners will gain a greater understanding of plant nutrient testing and the implication of soil sampling test results. Learners will examine soil conservation practices, soil nutrition and pesticide application.
Examines plant development and factors that affect plant growth. Through hands-on experience, text, lab and classroom activities, learners will examine environmental effects, market gardening equipment, irrigation tools, and fertilizers necessary to grow healthy, productive plants.

This course teaches the paramedic learner to integrate assessment findings with principles of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, epidemiology and pathophysiology to formulate a field impression and implement a comprehensive treatment plan for a patient with a cardiovascular complaint.
Provides the learner with the opportunity to enhance his or her learning through the practice of paramedicine in simulation or in the health care environment. The experiences will be in simulation or with actual patients under the supervision of instructors or approved preceptors. Learners will also participate in formal high-fidelity human patient simulator experiences and assessment as a part of this course.

Students apply skills developed in Dental and General Anatomy, Dental Health Safety, Dental Chairside, Dental Materials, Dental Radiography and Dental Assistant Professional in a clinical setting with patients. Emphasizes integration of core abilities (soft skills) and basic occupational skills. They will be able to collect diagnostic and treatment data, manage infection and hazard control, perform clinical supportive treatments (four handed dentistry, maintain instruments, etc.), take diagnostic radiographs, perform dental laboratory procedures, provide patient oral health instruction, assist in managing medical emergencies, model professional behaviors, ethics and appearance.
Explores laboratory science career options and the fundamental principles and procedures performed in the laboratory. Learners will utilize medical terminology and basic laboratory equipment. Learners will follow required safety and infection control procedures and perform simple laboratory tests.
Examines normal human anatomy and physiology using a body systems approach with emphasis on the interrelationships between form and function at the gross and microscopic levels of organization. Cellular metabolism and the individual components of body systems will be explored. The AHA’s PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. The goal of PALS is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.
Emphasizes basic fire behavior, techniques used to control structural and related fire emergencies and life safety practices. Learners perform all practical evolutions necessary to control and extinguish fires and otherwise meet all requirements for Firefighter 1 certification with the state of Wisconsin.
Explore emergency and critical care, surgical nursing and anesthesia on common domestic species. Learners will gain experience with patient preparation for common surgical procedures, presurgical diagnostics, anesthetic protocols, aseptic technique, and surgical assisting. This course is only offered in fall and summer semesters.
Examines weed identification concepts at various plant growth stages. Learners will develop the skills necessary to characterize and identify weeds in agronomic and garden settings. Hands-on activities include creating a weed portfolio using a plant press and identifying weed species in crop fields and gardens.
Researches the latest science-based recommendations for battling garden and field pest problems. Throughout this course, students will learn to identify pests and plant diseases. Learners will determine what corrective action should be taken, if any. Integrated pest management concepts are covered in this course.
This course will cover topics related to the delivery of community and mental health care. Specific health needs of individuals, families, and groups will be addressed across the lifespan. Attention will be given to diverse and at-risk populations. Mental health concepts will concentrate on adaptive/maladaptive behaviors and specific mental health disorders. Community resources will be examined in relation to specific types of support offered to racial, ethnic, economically diverse individuals and groups.
This third level clinical course prepares radiography students to perform radiologic procedures on patients with varying degrees of direct and indirect supervision. Students apply radiation protection and standard precautions in the production of radiographic images in a health care setting while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. An emphasis of the course is the demonstration of communication and critical thinking skills appropriate to the clinical setting.

This 96-hour course prepares the participant to be able to perform fire fighting functions at the nationally recognized minimum levels under direct supervision. The targeted audience is individuals who desire to become Wisconsin Certified Fire Fighter I based on the requirements set by SPS 330.08, Employment standards, Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. This course is designed to provide the Fire Fighter I candidate with the information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) defined in NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, Current Edition, Chapters 5.2 through 5.5. The participant must also complete the Hazardous Materials Operation level course in order to meet the remainder of the NFPA Fire Fighter I JPR requirements.
Perform animal health practices and activities as it relates to transition cows. This hands-on lab provides learners with firsthand exposure to the duties, responsibilities and management opportunities that are present on a dairy operation. Each lab will build upon the skills from the previous lab. In this third lab, the focus will be on transition cow care; six weeks prior to six weeks post calving. Students will have the opportunity to explore and analyze best management practices in transition cow feeds, nutrition, vaccinations, veterinary needs and housing options.
Explores the fundamentals of hydroponics and growing plants using water as a growing medium. Hands-on learning activities include growing and maintaining plants in an indoor hydroponic growing facility, a bato bucket system, and vertical hydroponic gardens. Learners will discover the scientific concepts behind growing plants in hydroponic systems and become experts in alternative growing methods.
Examines various barn designs and layouts in order to ensure the well-being of food producing animals. Learners will explore a variety of best practices pertaining to barn design for milk production, animal comfort and reducing animal stress.

This Basic Motorcycle Rider 2 course consists of classroom and range instruction designed for riders with their Wisconsin Motorcycle Instruction Permit who are either returning to riding or are seeking a refresher course to practice and/or seeking their motorcycle license or endorsement (already licensed or endorsed riders may also participate). Any person over the age of 16 may enroll in this course. The student must already possess basic riding skills such as starting out, stopping, and turning. Students must bring their own 2 wheel motorcycle which may be a manual or automatic. Students must provide proof of registration and insurance for the motorcycle they will be using. In addition there is a 4 hour ECourse that must be completed within 30 days prior to class(fees for ECourse are included in the overall class price) The in-person portion consists of eight range exercises, including a screening exercise to verify participants have sufficient skill to continue. This course may also be used to waive the road test when applying for the Wisconsin Motorcycle license, as long as the student also completes the E-Course.
During the week, students will be tasked with a challenge to create a brand and create materials to match their branding. Students will start by designing items and then printing them in our state-of-the-art lab. Through this camp, students will learn about mass producing items with graphics such as stickers, shirts, boxes, packaging, and other promotional items.
This American Red Cross Babysitting Certification course will prepare youth to be safe, effective, and responsible babysitters. The training is designed to provide universal skills in areas that every babysitter should know, including basic care for infants and children, basic First Aid, child behavior and appropriate activities, emergency protocols, and more.
Students are invited to explore NTC's welding lab in this summer camp experience. NTC welding faculty will lead students through the skills and equipment needed for welding design. Participants will learn welding basics and create a project to take home.
The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) - Test Out is for a ONE-TIME try to challenge the CPAT course. Acknowledgment and waiver of CPAT orientation and/or conditioning period and/or timed practice runs will need to submitted.
The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) - Full Session includes the orientation, two (2) timed course practices and a CPAT test. During the orientation session, we will explain the testing process and how the equipment works. You will have the chance to ask questions and try the testing equipment. The pass rate of those who attend the orientations is higher than for those who do not, so it is highly recommended that you attend at least one of these orientations. The two practice tests are the same and we attempt to run the practice test under actual testing conditions. If the test is run under actual testing conditions and you successfully complete the test this is considered a PASS and you will not need to attend any further testing.
This Basic Motorcycle Rider course consists of classroom and range instruction designed for beginning riders and was developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). The Basic Rider Course covers preparing to ride, turning, shifting and braking, street strategies, special situations, increasing riding skills, maintenance and insurance. Instructors are certified by the MSF and Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). It is taught off-street, out of traffic, and motorcycles and helmets are provided. In addition there is a 5 hour ECourse that must be completed within 30 days prior to class(fees for ECourse are included in the overall class price).

Prepares the learner for the Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Exam using classroom and online resources to develop knowledge of non-driving aspects of operating Class B vehicles. Some of this content includes regulations, hours-of-service rules, driver wellness/fatigue, and medical requirements. In combination with the Class B CDL 1, the content of this course meets or exceeds the minimum federal training requirements for Entry Level Driver Training of a Class B commercial vehicle.
This course prepares Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) certified law enforcement officers to effectively administer and teach the handgun and rifle training program. This course emphasizes teaching and learning techniques that promote active learning, supports learners with a variety of learning preferences and needs, and generates continuous improvements. This is a comprehensive instructor training on the justification for the use of deadly force, and the function, disassembly, troubleshooting, cleaning, maintenance, loading, unloading, reloading, malfunction clears, transition procedures in handgun and the modern police rifle.
Nitro-X Automotive Summer Camp is designed to introduce middle school students to transportation careers. Students will work with NTC faculty, staff, and industry professionals to prepare, paint, and customize a remote-control car using the same materials and techniques used in the collision repair industry. Throughout the week, students will learn about various transportation careers through hands-on activities, field trips to dealerships and auto shops, and will prepare the car for the final race day.
This course provides youth between ages 12 to 16 with the necessary requirements to be certified for compliance under Wisconsin Act 455 to operate tractors or self-propelled machinery for their own family on public roads. This course also meets the requirements for the U.S. Department of Labor Agriculture Hazards Occupation Order for youth 14-15 years of age employed on a farm other than their family farm.
During this camp our NTC welding faculty member will lead the students through hands-on activities in the areas of welding, engineering and machine tool. The students will tour a local manufacturer, hear from role models working in the industry, and create a project they can be proud of. The camp wraps up with a celebration where students can showcase what they’ve learned and created.
During this 2-hour camp, students will get a front row seat to what it is like to work in veterinary office, learn some of the skills necessary to provide medical and nursing care to a variety of animal species, and tour NTC’s Ag Center of Excellence.

This specialized course is designed for the emergency rescue personnel and K9 handler that would respond to canine emergencies in the field. This course includes practical classroom style education as well as hands-on instruction, demonstrations and scenario specific training using live, Trauma Fx simulator K9 Valor, model and cadaver dogs. This course will cover topics such as: Physical Examination and handling of the healthy and injured K9, Wound Care: facial lacerations, eye & paw injuries, Immobilization/Bandaging , Triage, shock, pain, heat stroke, CPR - RECOVER BLS & ALS /scenario drills, Introduction to Hemorrhage control, Oxygen administration, Naloxone administration, Major trauma overview, Illicit drug exposure in the working K9, Toxicology , Intubation (cadaver), Hemorrhage control, IV catheters and fluid resuscitation as well as intraosseous catheter placement (cadaver), Recognizing pneumothorax, needle decompression, and chest tube placement (cadaver), Gastric dilation volvulus (bloat) management in the field including trocarization (cadaver), and Review of First Aid kits and recommendation of supplies.
This course focuses on the development of advanced clinical skills across the lifespan. Content includes advanced intravenous skills, blood product administration, chest tube systems, basic electrocardiogram interpretation and nasogastric/feeding tube insertion.
By teaching Advanced Cardiac Life Support (“ACLS”) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (“PALS”) methodologies and protocols, this course prepares the paramedic learner in the integration of comprehensive knowledge of causes and pathophysiology into the management of shock, respiratory failure, respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest and peri-arrest states with an emphasis on early intervention to prevent respiratory and/or cardiac arrest if possible.
This camp is open to students who have completed Make it Real: Imagine, Design, Manufacture or Girls Make It Real this year or in the past. Students will work together to design and build a project that will be placed in our community.
Learn how to write a screenplay and translate it into a short fictional video. Activities include generating ideas for a short fictional film, creating a shot list, directing actors, shooting a scene, and editing a 1-2 minute video using Adobe Premiere Pro software. Participants will work in teams with the class members as their cast and crew.
