Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really qualify for Guaranteed Admission to NTC?

Guaranteed Admission is open to all students. We offer strategic resources to support your success and help you thrive in your program.

What if I don’t think my grades are good enough for college?

If you are committed to attending college, NTC is committed to helping you succeed. We have a dedicated college transition advisor to support students with less than a 2.5 GPA to create individual plans for academic success to attain their certificate, diploma or degree.

Why do I have to submit an application if my admission is guaranteed?

Although you are guaranteed admission, all applicants must complete an NTC application. This important step ensures the college has the most up to date information about you and when you want to start your intended program.

Are ACT scores required?

No, ACT scores are not considered for guaranteed admission. While ACT scores are not required for admission, students may still choose to submit them for their application. It is required to submit one of the following: high school transcripts, GED/HSED transcripts, post-secondary transcripts, or ACT, Accuplacer or other test scores.

Do I have to know what I am going to study or do with my life?

No, you don’t need to know right away. You will have the opportunity to work with a Career Coach who will help you explore options and find the program that best fits your goals and interests.

Are there any additional requirements for certain programs?

Yes, some programs have additional admission criteria. This may include prerequisite courses, a minimum GPA, or other program specific requirements beyond general admission. If you are interested in a program with additional requirements, we encourage you to reach out to us at recruitment@ntc.edu for specific guidance on what is needed to qualify.

An example of this type of program is Nursing or Veterinary Technician. Detailed information about these programs and evaluating your readiness can be found within our Evaluating Readiness section.

I heard some programs have a waitlist, is that true?

We have some programs each year that are in high demand. This means we have more applications than seats available. When this happens for a program, we have specific rules and state statutes to follow for how we admit students.

Programs with an active waitlist will be indicated on our website.

Do I qualify for scholarships

Absolutely! Twice a year NTC opens the scholarship window for the following term and every current student is eligible to apply. Students must have a completed application and be admitted to the college to access the application.
