Rick Bucher had a normal enough childhood, but his life has been extraordinary since. An adventure sports athlete, racer, and instructor, Rick served as a firefighter/paramedic in Scottsdale, Arizona for 27 years. After narrowly surviving a rock climbing accident, motorcycle wreck and a suicide attempt, he went on to receive treatment for PTSD and is now working to increase awareness of mental health issues in high risk industries.

MSHA Silica Standards and What it Means Now
It has been almost 40 years since MSHA updated its silica standard and 8 years since OSHA updated its silica standard. This presentation will go over all important components of the new MSHA silica standard that went into effect June 2024 . The purpose of the new MSHA silica standard is simple - to better protect the miners from exposure to silica dust so they do not have to suffer from the entirely preventable debilitating and deadly occupational illnesses
