We’re so excited to welcome you as a new NTC Timberwolf. We know starting something new can be daunting and often brings a lot of questions. Follow the five steps on this page so you’re Timberwolf Ready for your first day of classes!

Changed Your Program Recently?

If you recently changed programs, your new acceptance letter may have directed you here again. If you've already completed Steps 1 and 2, you can skip ahead to Step 3 to meet with your advisor.

Step 1: Set Up Timberwolf Technology

To succeed at NTC, it’s important to get comfortable with the digital tools you’ll use every day. From registering for classes to submitting assignments and staying connected, these essential platforms will help you navigate your college experience with ease. Watch the videos below to set up your accounts and ensure you’re ready for day one!

Multifactor authentication sends a confirmation notification to your phone or device of your choice when you log into any NTC system with your NTC student account. You’ll set this up the first time you’re logging into an NTC system.
Microsoft Outlook Icon

Meet Outlook

Outlook is your official NTC email account, where you’ll receive important updates from instructors, classmates, and the college. Be sure to check your email regularly for class announcements, financial aid notifications, and other critical information to help you stay on track.

Meet Canvas

Canvas is NTC’s online learning platform, where you’ll access course materials, submit assignments, take quizzes, and communicate with instructors and classmates. Whether your classes are fully online, hybrid, or in-person, Canvas will be an essential tool for staying organized and engaged in your coursework.

Step 2: Complete the Timberwolf Ready Checklist

This online, self-paced course prepares you for the best possible success in your courses and program. Plus, it addresses the most common new student questions. You’ll need this information before meeting with your advisor to schedule classes. Plan about two hours to complete. This can be done in one sitting or multiple sessions.

Upon clicking the link below, you’ll be enrolled in the course and able to access it through Canvas.

Course Outcomes

Financial Resources

Paying for College

We understand paying for college can feel overwhelming, but there are plenty of ways to make it affordable. Explore NTC’s grants, scholarships, loans, and on-campus work opportunities to find the right fit for your situation.

Scholarships

Scholarships help you fund your education by providing financial assistance that can be used to pay for tuition, books and other school-related expenses. The two categories of scholarships available to NTC students are NTC Foundation scholarships and external scholarships.

Financial Aid

Your first and most important step in the financial aid process is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA becomes available on October 1st the year prior to attendance. Student and parent(s) will need to create a username and password (FSA ID). FAFSA encompasses grants, loans and work-study. NTC school code: 005387.

Grants

Grants help cover your college costs and usually don’t need to be paid back. They’re awarded based on your financial need, which is determined by your FAFSA results and the cost to attend NTC.

Work-Study

NTC offers part-time, on-campus jobs for students who qualify for work-study. Earn an hourly wage to help cover expenses while gaining valuable experience—often in your program area.
