Admission to core classes in the Practical Nursing Technical Diploma is based on application date and successful completion of academic preparedness requirements.
Academic Preparedness Admission Requirements
To be eligible for a spot in the core program, all academic preparedness requirements must be fully completed by the evaluation date. Students will only be considered for a spot in the core program if all requirements are met at the time of evaluation.
- General Anatomy & Physiology or Body, Structure & Function with a grade of “C” or better
- Nursing Assistant (CNA) with a grade of “C” or better
- HESI A2 Exam (minimum score of 70%) — October 9 and 10, 2026; April 2 and 3, 2027 HESI Exam Date Options
Evaluation Dates
NTC admissions staff will begin evaluating all Pre-Practical Nursing students to determine who has their academic preparedness admission requirements completed starting on the following dates:
- June 12, 2026 for Fall 2026 program start
- November 1, 2026 for Spring 2027 program start
After evaluations begin, students will be notified by email of their admission status. The evaluation process generally takes 1–2 weeks to complete; however, processing times may vary.

Waitlist Information
NTC must comply with a waitlist policy when an academic program meets capacity and cannot continue to admit students for the particular term. This policy adheres to Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter TCS 10.
