Admission to core classes in the Dental Hygienist Associate Degree is based on residency, application date and successful completion of academic preparedness requirements.
Currently there is an estimated two- to three-year wait between pre-program acceptance and the start of core program classes. The estimated time to begin core program classes may vary depending on the number of pre-program students. Students may begin working on general studies requirements as a pre-program student.
Admission Priority
NTC must comply with the following admission priority for high-demand programs, which adheres to Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter TSC 10.
Academic Preparedness Admission Requirements
To be eligible for a spot in the core program, students must be enrolled in* or have successfully completed the following admission requirements:
- General Anatomy & Physiology with a grade of âCâ or better
- HESI A2 Exam (minimum score of 75%) â October 2, 3, 4, 2025 HESI Exam Date Options
Determination Dates
NTC admissions staff will evaluate all pre-dental hygienist students to determine who has their academic preparedness admission requirements in progress or completed starting on the following dates:
- November 1, 2025 for Spring 2026 program start
- June 1, 2026 for Fall 2026 program start
Important Update for Fall 2026 and Beyond
- For Spring 2026, students will be allowed to meet academic preparedness requirements with currently enrolled courses contingent upon successful completion of the required courses at the end of the semester.
- Starting June 1, 2026, for Fall 2026 core program entry and beyond, all academic preparedness requirements must be fully completed by the evaluation date. Students will only be considered for a spot in the core program if all requirements are met at the time of evaluation.

Waitlist Information
NTC must comply with a waitlist policy when an academic program meets capacity and cannot continue to admit students for the particular term. This policy adheres to Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter TCS 10.
