The Dental Hygienist program uses a declaration process. The declaration process is how you gain acceptance into the core classes for this health program.
Declaration happens only during specific times during the year, but applications are accepted for programs with declaration requirements at any time. When you are ready to get started in program specific courses and have met declaration eligibility requirements, you will submit a declaration and follow the process for your program to determine admittance to program classes.
Declaration Prerequisites
To be eligible to declare, you must be enrolled in or have completed any declaration prerequisites for your program.
- General Anatomy & Physiology with a grade of “C” or better
- Pre-Declaration Dental Hygiene Course
Preparing to Declare
To be considered for admission, students will need to earn a minimum cumulative HESI score of 75%.

Admissions Priority
NTC must comply with the following admissions priority:
NTC District Residents — Applicants who reside within the NTC district will have first priority for program admission, if applications are submitted by:
- January 1 for the following fall semester
- May 1 for the following spring semester
- October 1 for the following summer semester
If you are a NTC District Resident and apply after the dates above, you will be included in the next group (Non-NTC District, Wisconsin State Residents).
The date a student completed application requirements will form the order of program admission.
View the Wisconsin Technical College System’s Map of Colleges to see if you reside within NTC’s district.
Please note, residency status is based on the original program application even if the student's residency changes after the original program application. The college also reserves the right to confirm a student's residency status with appropriate documentation.
Non-NTC District, Wisconsin State Residents — Applicants who reside in another part of Wisconsin outside of NTC’s District will have the same priority as local residents who apply after the dates above.
The date a student completed application requirements will form the order of program admission.
- Out-of-State Residents — Applicants who reside outside of Wisconsin will be offered a place in the program after the local and state residents, if there are still spots available.
When a program reaches capacity, students can ask to be put on a waitlist. The waitlist will be formed using the same priority criteria as above. Students on the waitlist get priority in future terms based on the date they completed application requirements. Having priority does not guarantee place in the program. You can stay on the waitlist for future terms until you get in, as long as you continue to follow the steps to notify NTC of your wish to remain.
All declaration correspondence will be sent to your NTC student email.
What’s Next?
We’ll review your form submission and make sure you meet all of the declaration requirements. Students will be emailed their admission status and next steps.
