Explore husbandry and care of exotic pets, pocket pets, birds and animals used for research. Topics covered include housing requirements, sanitation, nutrition, radiology, restraint and handling. Learners will practice hands on skills including administering medications, diagnostic sampling techniques and physical examinations of rats, mice, birds, rabbits, and other small mammals. This course may also work with reptiles. This course is only offered in fall semester.
Emphasizes measurement of weld defects and assessment of weld quality conformance to common welding codes. Learners conduct etch tests, bend tests and break tests on welds. The process of procedure and welder qualification is explored through group activities.

Learners will examine best practices and key performance indicators and apply these concepts in a live mill environment. Students will receive instruction in techniques that are applicable to law enforcement from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, and mixed martial arts disciplines and build on the basic foundations of defense and arrest tactics principles taught by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board. Students will also be encouraged to bring in real life examples of situations and scenarios they have experienced to work through during open mat time during class and find new techniques to utilize in the scenario.

The Traffic Safety (Point Reduction) class is designed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to review basic safe driving concepts and may be attended by anyone. Emphasis will be placed on how to develop a personal change plan to reduce the risk of traffic violations and crashes. Upon successful completion of the class, the student may request a three (3) point reduction of the demerit points on their license. NOTE: This course can be taken for point reduction purposes once every three years.

Explain design, construction and service of vehicle braking systems. Emphasis is placed on disc applications, the machining of brake rotors, hydraulic systems and components along with system maintenance.

Learners build additional experience in the grading of hardwood lumber and logs and enhance their merchandising knowledge and understanding with emphasis on hands-on exercises and techniques.
Applies machining applications to: work planning, milling machine setups, lathe setups and basic surface grinder setups. This course will teach the learner to machine more complex parts, hold closer tolerances, add skills that can increase efficiency and produce assembled projects.
Introduces Pneumatic fluid power systems. The characteristics and dangers of using air as a fluid power force are explored. Pneumatic system components are studied including: compressors, linear actuators, rotary actuators and pneumatic tubing. Hands-on activities using various pneumatic components are assembled in the lab.
Workshop will include a step-by-step demonstration of how to break down a deer. Instructors will share tips on hanging a deer at home, demonstrate how to remove lymph nodes for CWD testing and explain the best practices for storing your venison by canning or freezing. Participants should come prepared to help skin, quarter, cut, trim and package venison.

Learners will calculate the cost of goods, overhead, and selling price. Learners will determine the resources needed to run various restaurant operations.

Focus on error handling and database security. Learners engage with data from disparate sources in order to understand basics of extract, transform, load (ETL) procedures. Learners will build a database and move data from source to target and also build simple data reports to illustrate what is in the database.

Learners review basic HTML/CSS concepts, apply their knowledge of the box model, learn additional HTML concepts and CSS styling techniques and create responsive websites. Group Dynamics is an alcohol/drug education course for those persons convicted of operation while intoxicated (OWI) and who are identified as irresponsible users of alcohol and/or drugs by an assessment agency. The main goal of this course is to develop an individualized plan to modify or eliminate inappropriate behaviors and attitudes related to drinking and driving. This course is open only to those who have had a court-ordered assessment from an approved assessment agency.
Introduces the concept of looking at a current outdated automation process or future automation process and understanding how to correctly specify the hardware components that will be used to update the machine or process with today’s automation technology. The concept of creating and writing a project proposal will also be covered.
Develops the principles of electrical fabrication. Emphasis will be given to the practical application of interpreting engineering drawings, wiring machine components and troubleshooting electrical panels.
Introduces industrial motors including the most common types of AC and DC motors. The potential dangers of Industrial motors are explored and the application and safety standards related to electric motors are reviewed and implemented. Labs include motor load and efficiency testing utilizing digital power, speed and torque measurement devices.
Advanced servo integration is accomplished using industrial servo drives and programmable logic controllers. Servo gearing and camming is studied through hands-on activities. Learners solve real world servo related problems using advanced PLC and Servo programming.
Focuses on the concept of programming and using vision guided robotic systems. Both remote hard mounted vision systems and robot mounted vision systems will be introduced. Learners will learn how to create vision programs and configure the robot to work with the camera system to allow storage and bin picking applications. Both 2D and 3D camera systems will be introduced.
Expands on the principles of basic electricity and application. Wiring diagram interpretation and utilization are introduced and practiced. Learners will also begin to apply their knowledge on the battery and starting systems.
Apply advanced concepts involving digital electronics and electronic devices. Operational characteristics of advanced digital circuits will be explored and analyzed. Project based labs will allow learners to demonstrate an understanding of digital integrated circuits including combinational logic, counter circuits and storage circuits. IET 6 expands on IET 3 and IET 5.
Incorporates the detailed study of mechanical power transmission system components. Included are gear, belt, chain and screw drive systems. Lab experiments include the selection, installation and maintenance of mechanical power transmission components and systems.
Continuation of SCADA Systems 1, learners will organize and develop FactoryTalk View Site Edition (SE) network/server-based application. Learners will have the opportunity to practice the skills needed to create/build detailed graphic displays, trend charts and data logs. Learners will learn how to configure alarms and set up system security, build data logs, and test their application using FactoryTalk View SE Network Distributed Application.
